Thank you, Rishad. Great perspectives & insights to start my Sunday, as always. We should encourage more learning by doing & teaching others, especially at schools. As Richard Feynman said "if one cannot describe an idea in simple terms, then they do not really understand it."

I truly enjoyed your suggestions how to keep learning going. I am a firm believer that learning only stops when you take your last breath.

Love the perspectives - learning, doing and building a case for the opposites! On learning, I practice the mindset of “turn every moment into a learning moment”. It is amazing how powerful that it. Great pleasure meeting you in NY this week. Zarina Stanford

I heard you speak yesterday at METAL so I subscribed right away.

I wanted to chime in and point out that the term Web3 is a land-grab perpetuated by CryptoHeads desperate to justify their close minded "Red-pill popping" belief that Blockchain and Crypto is so special and ground breaking that it deserves its own moniker.

We're both old enough to appreciate that these big waves of change that come along every 10-15 years are important and worth noting - but....

To refer to Web3 as something that EXCLUDES:

• AI

• IoT

• metaverse/AR/VR

• Creator economy

Is just stupid!

Yes - I agree that:

Web 1.0 = one-way read

Web 2.0 = two-way read

Web3 = own

But how can you talk about owning and NFTs and not praise the Creators?

How can you EVEN mention smart contracts, DAOs or all that MONEY CryptoHeads are making - and not a single murmur of AI?

That's astounding to me - and it's up to us - the elders of the Tech Industry - to point out that if you DO want to herald the coming of Web3 - you had BETTER refer to something BESIDES Crypto or Blockchain.

My second comment, for whatever it is worth, is a working definition of "The Metaverse" that I am using as a consultant because my clients want help with this. Here goes: The “metaverse” refers to a world where metadata running through the cloud enhances human activities in powerful and profound ways because the enhancements happen in real-time. The metaverse is divided into two forms; Virtual Reality (VR) which is enhanced virtual-world gaming experiences and Augmented Reality (AR) which is enhanced experiences for real world activities. --- It's not lost on me that I am sharing this with a man who is perhaps the best I have ever seen at defining these things.

My Sundays are changing because of your powerful essays. I gotta leave two different comments this week. The first relates to this: "2. Build a case for the opposite of what you believe is true." --- Yes! That's always been a good practice for business planning but today, on a human level, this is a plea for EMPATHY. The current political climate in the USA has pushed me to work really hard to understand what might be going on in the minds of 30% of the population that shaped the outcome of the 2016 election. A large part of the population appears (from inside my head) to be passionate about voting against their own best interests. For example, many people who have seen their lands destroyed by chemical companies who have dumped toxic waste into streams are intensely opposed to voting for people who want the EPA to be a strong regulatory body. I have been working for years to better understand that kind of voter. It's not fun but it seems like we all gotta get better at understanding this.
