I realize how hard it is to bring Donald Trump into any discussion without things going all to hell but he seems like the poster child for insights into the themes in this article. These "messiahs" who bring down all that surrounds them when their god complex collapses of its own weight are truly dangerous. The jury is still out regarding Trump but, at a minimum, he seems to have destroyed the Republican party that was once built on solid conservative ideas and he might become the mother of all destructive messiahs if he pulls down America's democratic foundation. Kanye is a hot mess destroying himself, a crypto crisis is hurting the wealth of investors who took risks they should have understood, Elon Musk is playing at a whole higher level and Putin is playing with nuclear fire but I can just see Donald Trump reading this column and saying "hold my beer."
Hi Rishad, great article and reminder to very successful people that thinking you are very smart and therefore always right is the beginning of a fall. I noticed you did not include Mark Zuckerberg. I'm curious though as to what you feel about about his recent challenges -- God complex or incredible vision?
Mark agree. Since I keep politics out of this thought-letter I did not bring up trump or since it is a work in progress obstinate visionaries like Zuckerberg .
