I agree with your point about making time to learn. Continuous learning is essential in an ever-changing socio-economic environment. Especially for leaders, it is important to recognize the support and sponsorships they receive from governing superiors to retain a position of leadership.

Leadership is first and foremost empowered by its support. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow. We are talking to people as if it is only up to them to become the leaders of tomorrow.

But how can you “De-Bossify” yourself without risking losing your job? A good friend of mine who was a boss of a large enterprise had to flee to another country after the governing empowerment has changed. In this regard, the USA is no exception.

On another but related subject.

I don't know about you, but I am inspired by unexpected insights. Unfortunately, there are fewer and fewer of them. More and more people are duplicating sales and marketing techniques, especially in the consultancy sector. These quotes are excerpts from offers that came to my computer just this morning.

"Success is imminent if you only follow these 9 steps..." "The 6 pivotal means to success…" "5 ways to sway customers…" "My partner and I have developed five actions you can take to really move your purpose forward and benefit from it..." "How CPG is launching their equity-free incubator to lead the front on building ventures…" Le's write a book about it and publish it on Amazon. We may sell a couple of hundred within the first year and then no one will care anymore. Does that sound familiar?

What we're seeing now is an emergence and prominence of emotional intelligence, trust, and general humanity -- all leading to leadership based on building relationships with people. And that's means it's a more healthy environment for everyone.

Rishad, first I want to thank you for making me think and bringing perspective in your writing.

I've been thinking about and living in this "coaching space" since the early 90's. My business card actually said "Coach" on it. My job was leading a sales team the last half of the 90's and first part of 2000's. The key charge was to "make my numbers". And do it by developing the team and individuals. I was pretty good at it I guess, because the team won several global master sales awards for that company. I've been a coach for decades really. I think I was born to coach.

During those years many people asked, "What is a coach?" This was back in the days of emerging coaching trends. I became a certified Hudson Institute coach in the late 90's and that cohort couldn't believe I was an internal coach already for some years. It was new.

I think how we language about all this is what's important. Being the boss is not a bad thing, it needs to happen at times. Being a benevolent boss that knows when to stop bossing is the real problem and a passive manager can be just as damaging. It's really about actively influencing the present to leverage it for your best future. You are so correct in many aspects of the future we face, but that's not true in all industries or job levels...or individuals.

I could say so much about this, but I will end with this. Actively influencing results requires us to know when to lead, manage, coach, supervise, or facilitate. To eliminate passivity and reacting and becoming as proactive and predictive in our work as leaders regardless of title. Flex your approach depending on the individuals involved, their skill level and circumstances they face.

Fully agree Sir....De-Bossification is required in modern organizations to stay productive and relevant. It may be difficult in military and government organizations. But the individual leaders should try it
